15 - The Railroad, Coops, and Retrenchment

Before this reading, I had never heard of the Retrenchment Association. It is interesting to examine Brigham Young's relationship with women in the church, since early on he seemed kind of hostile to the relief society. I liked how straightforward and direct the advice he gave was in the primary source. I wondered about the silk worms; that's pretty unique. I thought A Common Struggle did a great job illuminating the reasoning behind the leaders push for Retrenchment.
