I felt like the source Patience Loader Reminiscence of 1856 Travels did a great job describing the plight of the pioneers trekking across the west. It is kind of crazy how much death and near-death they had to be involved in. The weather is no joke; I can attest to that being from Iowa where a lot of their winter struggles happened. I had also never really heard of the "Mormon Reformation" before this, as discussed in the ChurchofJesusChrist.org article. I wonder if something similar could ever happen again where people have to get rebaptized and undergo repentance en masse.
