10 - Mechanics of Revelation

In Bushman's piece, he argues that Joseph's revelations are the rhetorical voice of God. He suggests that an honest reader will acknowledge the rhetorical neutrality of the revelations. Rather than appealing to reason, the revelations, such as the ones we read in D&C 28, 38 etc. speak with an authoritative voice of God. This is evident throughout the D&C sections, as Joseph is chastised several times. I also found it interesting that Joseph argued that there is an inherent limitation to language, and that language cannot always adequately convey feeling or revelation fully and completely.
